The local government of Paranhos is the largest in Porto, Portugal. Their centre for creative businesses and social entrepreneurs is the first of its kind in Portugal.
TILT worked with a local team from the City Council to transform a disused school into an enabling space. Working within a very tight budget, TILT designed a series of architectural interventions in the space to highlight transparency, spatial flow and connection. The glazed meeting room sits between two working environments allowing both visibility and acoustic privacy. Influenced by the light and colours of Portugal, TILT was able to deliver a space with vibrancy and literal transparency but also with flexibility and opportunities for serious focused work.
Also, with Porto's climate and the building location it was possible to explore and create ways to allow outside working and collaboration.
